MedShare Donor Impact: A Letter of Thanks from Heart Attack Ethiopia

Dear MedShare Team and Donors,

We at Heart Attack Ethiopia would like to extend our sincerest thanks for your support of our most recent mission trip to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from August 16-31, 2024. This very successful mission gave our team of 17 volunteers the opportunity to treat 91 patients!

Our interventional cardiology team performed 57 heart catheterizations and percutaneous interventions, including the emergent treatment of a father of 3, who presented to the Emergency Department in cardiac arrest with anterior STEMI! Our volunteer team was on site and able to perform emergent PCI, without which the patient would very likely not have survived. Additionally, our cardiac surgery team performed 13 open heart surgeries, including aortic and mitral valve replacements and CABG. Our Electrophysiology team successfully implanted 20 pacemakers for patients suffering from conduction disorders.

The opportunity to treat these deserving patients would not have been possible without the generous support of our industry donors who share the Heart Attack Ethiopia belief that all patients deserve high-quality care and support, regardless of their geographical location or ability to pay for services.

The need remains great and the support of our industry leaders, such as MedShare, is absolutely immeasurable in the success of our mission work. There remains a growing list of nearly 6,000 individuals who are still waiting for treatment in Ethiopia alone. By continuing our mission work and training physicians and medical professionals during our missions, we aim to continue to work hard to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease in Ethiopia, one heart at a time!

On behalf of all the patients treated by Heart Attack Ethiopia, we wish to send our most sincere thanks to you and your teams and hope to continue to collaborate with you moving forward for future missions.

Sincerely,
