Medical Supplies Donation Guidelines
MedShare’s recovery efforts save millions of pounds of surplus medical supplies and equipment from landfills and incinerators that, for various regulatory reasons, hospitals and medical companies must discard. We accept donations of unused, unexpired medical surplus supplies and used biomedical equipment through our hospital recovery program and corporate product donations.
To ensure that MedShare can utilize your donation, we must adhere to the following regulatory and safety guidelines.
AGE OF SUPPLIES
– Expiration date of the item must be greater than 18 months from today
– Look for the hourglass symbol
– If there is no expiration date, item is acceptable
CONDITION OF SUPPLIES
– Items should be in the original primary packaging, but do not need to be in the original case (i.e. syringes should be in their sealed plastic but OK if not in a full carton)
ACCESSORIES
– Please include any related spare parts, tubing, manuals, etc.
DELIVERY
As a non-profit, MedShare does not have the funding or capacity to pick up most donations, so items should be delivered or dropped off at the location below. Please consider your shipment cost as a Gift-in-Kind donation.
- If you are a manufacturer, distributor, hospital or physician’s practice, we ask that you deliver your donations to us if at all possible.
- Unfortunately, we are unable to pick up small quantity donations from a home or office. Please plan a delivery or drop-off in person.
- For certain hospital partners and priority items, MedShare will coordinate pickup or delivery. Please let us know your need when completing the donation offer form.
- For appointment scheduling, email meddonation@medshare.org and reference your offer form number, which you will receive 4-5 days after your offer submission.
