Bridging the gap between surplus and need.

MedShare ranked in Top Ten of Highly Rated Charities Relying on Private Contributions

July 02, 2009

ATLANTA, Georgia – MedShare ranks No. 2 on Charity Navigator’s recently released Top 10 list of Highly Rated Charities Relying on Private Contributions, and is the only Georgia-based nonprofit listed.

The list was scored based on charities that draw revenue solely from direct and indirect public support. The charities on this list report no government funding, membership fees or revenue from earned income. As a result, more than 95% of these charities’ total revenue comes from private contributions.

“We work very hard to raise the funds to achieve our mission, so it is an honor for our fundraising operations to be recognized by such a prestigious charity evaluator as Charity Navigator,” says A.B. Short, Co-Founder and CEO of MedShare.

This is the second time MedShare ranked in a Charity Navigator Top 10 list. At the beginning of the year, MedShare was ranked No. 4 on the Slam Dunk Charity list, where it was again the only Georgia-based nonprofit to receive this honor. This list recognized charities that were not only top in terms of financial health, but also for respecting the rights of donors.

Charity Navigator is the nation’s largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities, assessing the financial health of over 5,000 to help charitable givers make intelligent giving decisions. For more information, go to www.charitynavigator.org
