March 26, 2010

ATLANTA, Ga. (March 26, 2010) –MedShare has recently shipped over 12,000 pounds of requested medical supplies in efforts to assist and treat victims of the February earthquake in Chile. This is MedShare’s first shipment to Chile and was sponsored by Kimberly Clark Corporation.

“Having just responded to the earthquake in Haiti, MedShare is prepared to extend our disaster relief efforts to meet the medical needs in Chile. With help from Kimberly Clark, we can get these needed medical supplies shipped and distributed, so they can be used to save lives in Chile,” said A.B. Short, CEO & Co-Founder of MedShare.

“We are honored to join forces with MedShare and support their efforts to provide critical medical supplies, as quickly as possible, to those affected by the devastating earthquake in Chile,” said Joanne Bauer, president of Kimberly-Clark Health Care.

The medical supplies were shipped to Hospital Higueras de Talcahuano in Concepcion, where currently they are deferring some patients to other hospitals because of supply shortages. The medical items most desperately needed are for earthquake-related injuries such as, triage bandages, dressings, IV kits, surgical gloves, splints and orthopedic equipment.

“Since 2008, Kimberly-Clark has sponsored multiple container shipments specifically to Latin America with MedShare,” said Juan Ernesto De Bedout, group president of Latin America Operations. “Through this relationship we were able to quickly and efficiently provide needed medical supplies and equipment during this recent disaster.”

The medical supply shipment left from MedShare’s distribution center on Friday, March 12 and arrived in Chile by airfreight the following Monday night.
