On Monday, August 3, MedShare ships mobile CT scanner from Catalina Imaging to health facility in Zimbabwe.
SAN LEANDRO, Calif. – On Monday, Aug. 3, MedShare will ship a mobile CT scanner to Zimbabwe. Catalina Imaging donated the mobile scanner to MedShare.
“We see the donation of this mobile CT scanner as a step to improving healthcare for many, and encourage other companies to contribute,” said Ron Wright, CEO of Catalina Imaging.
The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation is sponsoring the shipment of the mobile scanner, and chose for MedShare to send it to Zimbawe where currently there is only one working CT scanner in the country’s public health system. With this being a mobile CT scanner, it will be able to travel to rural areas of Zimbabwe where people have extremely limited access to medical care.
“This is the most substantial single medical equipment donation MedShare has received in its 10-year history. In a country like Zimbabwe, this kind of technology will make remarkable strides towards diagnosing important medical conditions,” said A.B. Short, Co-Founder and CEO of MedShare.
Located in San Leandro, MedShare recovers and redistributes surplus medical supplies and equipment to developing countries. Several Sacramento hospitals regularly donate their unused, unexpired surplus medical supplies to MedShare.
