Name: Letitia (Tish) Wallace

Age and Occupation: 76, retired from Georgia Center of Cancer Statistics, Emory Univ

Hometown: Decatur, GA

Please describe yourself in one sentence:  I like helping others, and volunteering to make a difference in our world.

When did you first hear about MedShare and what inspired you to get involved? I heard about MedShare after the earthquake crisis in Haiti. A member of our church was already a volunteer, and talked about it at a meeting for mission work in Haiti.

How long have you been volunteering at MedShare? Regularly for the past six months

How would you describe your volunteer experience at MedShare? I have very much enjoyed being there, and my team from Holy Trinity Parish has found it to be a meaningful experience as well. We have met many interesting people who are volunteering, and learning about the many people who have been helped makes me glad to be a part of the work.

What is it that motivates you to keep volunteering at MedShare? I believe in the concept of recycling and in helping so many in our world who need the medical supplies that would otherwise be thrown away.

What has been your favorite MedShare moment or story during your time serving with us? A very petite member of our team with a nonmedical background holding up a very large plastic tube with wires attached, longer than she was tall, and with big eyes saying, “Oh, m’gosh, I hope I never have to have anything like this used on me!” (Our team always has a good time, and we never know what we will be doing next.)
